Data Corruption: Relevant government departments, in consultation with their web hosting service providers, should develop appropriate mechanisms to ensure proper and regular backups of website data. This enables quick recovery of information in the event of any data corruption and uninterrupted availability of information to citizens.

Hardware/Software Crash: Although such an occurrence is rare, yet if the server on which the website is being hosted crashes due to some unforeseen reason, the web hosting service provider must have sufficient redundant infrastructure available to restore the website as quickly as possible.

8. Website Monitoring Plan

Websites should be monitored periodically as per the plan to address and fix quality and compatibility issues for the following parameters:

Performance: Site download times should be optimized for the different types of networks tested.

Functionality: All modules of the website should be tested for functionality. Additionally, interactive components of the site, such as discussion boards, opinion polls, feedback forms, etc., should function smoothly.

Broken Links: The website should be thoroughly reviewed to eliminate any broken links or errors. Many tools and techniques are now available to easily detect broken links on a website.

Traffic Analysis: Site traffic should be regularly monitored to analyze usage patterns as well as visitor profiles and preferences. Traffic analysis tools also report on broken links.

Feedback: Visitor feedback is the best way to evaluate a website's performance and make necessary improvements. A proper feedback analysis mechanism should be in place to implement changes and enhancements suggested by visitors.
